The Alibi Book Club #8

-- Delving into the world of biographies this month --

If you haven't been following my blog for long, I have a beautiful book series about... well... books. This month's read is Not That Kind Of Girl by Lena Dunham. I admit, I've never watched Girls but from past interviews I've read with her in magazines, I've grown to like her thoughts and opinions. And because this book was talked about so much last year, I thought I would give it a read. Some real life dosage among my obsession with fantasy.

Straight away from page one, Lena delivers a witty narration of her life. Particularly focusing on high school and college. She talks about how she views her body, goes through all the friendships she's had, therapy, summer camps, boyfriends, sex and more. It feels like she's talking to us as a friend and letting out all the secrets and we're listening to her. It's not the sort of book I would usually read, but I really enjoyed it and she has an excellent way with words that keeps you reading.

Also, did I mention there's cute little sketches of her and little objects that are dotted around the pages. I love it, and I'm pretty happy I waited for the paperback version to come out. (Because I hate hardbacks because of the bulky covers and weird slippery paper sleeves)

What books are you enjoying?
