Yes, it's been a hot minuto since a cheeky little Primark haul.
I made my triumphant return to YouTube the other week with a video of me showing off all the glorious bits I picked up from the store.
Serving the looks!
Wait, did we just go back in time to 2018, cos Fran is posting a fashion outfit of the day???
No, but I REALLY think my latest purchase from Lazy Oaf deserved aaaaall the love!
If you've been following me for a few years, you'll know I discovered the joy that is Lazy Oaf in 2016 and went a bit hard on spending money. And then after my last purchase in 2019 of an Esther Loves Oaf piece, I felt the brand started to go down hill. Until recently...
My own twist on autumn fashion
Wooaaah!
Have we gone back to 2014 all of a sudden... because hey - here I am posting an outfit of the day post!
As in wearing ALL THE COLOUR
Hi everyone. My name is Fran and I will describe myself (as many of my friends do) as a walking rainbow.
I'm an avid fan of Lazy Oaf - hoping to snatch up some cute pieces soon but nothing's caught my eye yet. Meh.
And anything pastel pink or veeeeery colourful (like the rainbow top from Monki in the pic above) I am ALL OVER.
Becoming a Spring fashion queen
You know how it goes...
Pay day comes, you've updated your travel card, taken money out for the month (I do this as a backup), bought the essentials and you're looking for a way to treat yourself without spending too much.
It's time to hit up Primark!
Oops I ordered again
You know when you get paid, and then you just sort of browse around *just* to see what you *could* order because you have more money. And then you actually end up ordering the products you told yourself you were just having a look at...
Yeah.
That happened the other day on the Skinnydip London website.
Loving all the new seasonal things!
When it gets closer to September. Basically around now. I get suuuper excited for all the Autumn pieces to hit shops...
Especially Primark!
Because if there's one thing I love more than Spring fashion. It's Autumn. You can get aaaall cosy in jumpers, coats and recently there's been a trend for rainbow. Which, as you know is my aesthetic!
Putting my own mark on jeans
Patches. They're one of my fave things ever aside from pins, coffee and pizza. Oh and Instagram. And for the loooongest time I've been wanting to bag a pair of jeans and stick on some cute af patches.
But I've never seen the right ones for either.
Until now.
Yay for all the spring fashion woo
Recently, I got a bit excited over the fact Primark brought out EVEN MORE newness to their stores.
And on one sunny day (in March) before it was even officially Spring, I decided it felt like as close as it could possibly be to the season that I let myself spend that dollar in my local store!
And feeling pretty in colours
A few days ago I made an impulse purchase. And it was on this pastel rainbow cardigan from Lazy Oaf. I have a number or reasons - or excuses if you want to use that word to why I needed to part with my money for this. (a.) I wanted a cardigan that wasn't black and (b.) I wanted a cardigan that was from Lazy Oaf.
And also the comfiest
I've acquired a few favourite staple outfit pieces recently. And I thought why not chuck them all into one outfit?? As you can tell by the post title, I'm veeery excited for Spring. Apart from the season of Christmas, and Autumn, Spring is probably my FAVOURITE season ever.
Just the right temperature of weather, light clothing but can still wear layers oh AND BLOSSOM.
And you won't believe where it's from
Yeah, I bought ANOTHER bag. And my excuse?? Well, it was an amazing bargain for a designer bag I've been lusting after for aaaageess. If you guys know me, I have expensive taste, and when I see something that's very similar to something else that I can't afford, I will buy it. And just over a year ago I bought this pretty Marc B bag that was a dupe for the Mulberry Lily.
But recently, I've been obsessed with the Gucci crossbody bags. Probably because every blogger has one now - and more specifically, it's the Marmont matelasse bag - also the disco edition that Tanya Burr has. It's the most beautiful shape and I'm just obsessed with the red.
Wear the season on your sleeve
What's better than music, snacks and bath products centered around the season of Christmas? Jumpers! That's what. And over the past three years, I hate to admit I've grown quite a collection - and I don't plan to stop...
Time to find those timeless pieces
Well, hit me with a sock and throw all the Lush products I own in a bath. It seems I unintentionally fell into creating a capsule wardrobe. It seems SUCH a blogger term. But when you get in the habit of buying bits here and there and then having a huge clear out of other old clothes you hardly wear anymore, you'll soon come to realise you kind of have a few favourites that you wear over and over again. And in different ways.
Don't get me wrong, I still have a few other bits (well quite a few) that I still wear occasionally, but I tend to reach for the same things anyway. Because I want to feel (1.) hip and cool like I'm going into a insta shoot at any moment and (2.) just reaaaallly comfy. So, I'm listing three brands - probably obvious to me and you - that I ALWAYS turn to and part with all my money for. These I swear by if you want to go for the same looks but mix it up...
Getting in the autumnal fashion spirit
Autumn is nigh my friends! (In precisely a week omg) and what better time than to throw out a huge primark haul full of amazing Autumn fashion! I popped into one of my local stores the other week and got a bit spendy - as you do in any Primark. Let's be real guys.
i.e. a backpack!
No matter how hard I want to go back to my teenage days when I lived in band tees and read Kerrang! every week, I've got accept that I need to make room for my ultimate cutesy floral side... Because I fell in love with this backpack the other week and I just HAD to get it! My first two thoughts were (1.) This is perfect for days out - because I daydreamed about using it for walks, shopping and going to my favourite place on earth: Brighton and (2.) It's got pink in it!
Yes to stripy outfit building
Yesterday (yeah I'm THAT keen to write an outfit post!) I was in New Look having a little peruse around the rails. Let me tell you, I found some amazing pieces but they only had size 14's and 12's meeh. And as I was just about to leave, something stripy and floaty caught my eye - and it was these culottes!
Aaaahhhh!
Be on trend and money savvy!
Over the course of a few weeks, ya gal has been picking up fashion staples that would create aaaall kinds of outfits. I had a wardrobe clear out, gave away all the clothes I haven't worn in over a year or more (there was quite a few that I made me go 'ew why do I still have this?') and I then proceeded to look for clothes that would have more than one outfit option. Not gonna lie, there was loads of bits I had my eye on and wanted but decided it wouldn't be worth the money. #watchingthepennies...
Buuut, I did pick up some bargains that tick all the boxes that I want this season. And that, my friends, does include the gorgeous oversized embroidered shirt pictured that you would never guess where it was from... Instead of rambling on about what I picked up in a post, I decided to film a haul/try on video. I hope you guys really enjoy it and get inspo for creating your own minimalist S/S wardrobe. Though don't think this is the end of my search for those perfect pieces haha.
The last time I did an outfit post was when we were on the brink of hitting Autumn... Damn. Soo I thought it was about time to update my fashion side of the blog, because I bet you didn't think I was the fashion conscious sort hahaha I'm kind of not but I'm trying... Apologies for the weird editing but the sun was low and there were lens flares (I think that makes the title of this post perfect - which is a homage to my fave Katy Perry song!) But who cares because I think it creates a cool effect anyway.
This outfit is the PERFECT transition into Spring. You've still got your ripped jean effects and covered arms but it's time to lose the coat because that's so last Winter. Though in all honesty, when I was shooting this it was freeeeezziiinnnggg.
I literally love this fish shirt from Zara because it's out there - but not too much. If you've seen my previous outfit posts, you will know I love pieces that are unique and eye catching. Normally Zara are pretty good with their 'out there' things but it all seems to be blouses and pretty ruffle shirts which look really strange on me. Meh.
The vertical stripes are really flattering and the shirt is perfectly oversized. I had to opt for an XS because it literally is an oversized style shirt haha. They can go perfectly with mom jeans and dungarees, which is what I've teamed them up with. They're also a new purchase as I've been dying to get dungarees for a year, but I've never found the perfect ones. Until now. These babies are from H&M and are soft, not skin tight and the rips aren't too exaggerated. Perfect.
And I've also finished it off with my favourite £1 Primark sunglasses (yep, that's right), Cath Kidston high tops - which are just so damn pretty and I can't wait to get a foot shot of them next to daffodils and my beloved Marc B bag. Which I've said in a previous post about how its such a perfect Mulberry Lily dupe.
Hopefully you'll see me in more snazzy Spring outfits soon, but for now I'll be wearing these to death...
You know what people say to you before Christmas: 'Don't spend anything on yourself, you don't know what you're going to get...' Well, my friends, I kicked that saying right out of the window. I have been DYING to get my hands on a Mulberry Lily (medium size) for two years now, and it's been gradually going up in price. But I can't help just going on the website and staring at its £950 worth of pure angelic suede and gold hardware perfection. I am a bag lady, and this is the piece de resistance.
The other day I was out with friends, and it was by chance that we wandered into the Topshop on Oxford Street. This is defo my favourite branch, and has all these brands within the shop and it's just paradise! And while my friend was about to pay for something, I decided to wander to the bags while I waited, and lo and behold... There were these gorgeous shoulder bags!
They were the closest bags I've ever seen to a Mulberry. Perfect gold hardware, soft black faux leather, and loads of space inside. I was in love. This bag is by Marc B. Never heard of him, but good on him for creating a close replica. I'm aware the pockets, zips and lovely leopard print interior aren't on a Mulberry, but that's what I love about this bag. For £37 (it was in the sale so usually retails for £47), I think I saved £900. It fits everything I carry inside, and looks super sleek when worn. And just like my designer dream, you can have the chain strap long or short and has a turnlock close.
All I can guys, is that this is the bag of 2017, and I can't wait to wear it to death. They also had a nude, pink and cream - so if you want one, you should definitely run to Oxford Street and snap one up!
