Life: Being a Teenage Blogger

-- Letting you in on a little secret:
what blogging is really like for me --

It was early 2014, and on a quite uneventful evening I decided to open a new tab on my browser and go on tumblr. I scrolled through, and it was the usual loves of mine: Mars, those cool hipster pictures and a whole bunch of fandom gifs. And then I came to one post, and there in an edit and a screenshot from her '50 facts about me' video was Zoella. I discovered her in the New Year of 2014 and I fell in love with her personality and style. And that's when I got sucked into the world of vlogging and blogging. I knew I wanted a huge slice of it, and it really interested me, talking about beauty, fashion and anything you loved - and people would read about it! I also read Company Magazine (RIP) religiously at the time, as they always featured bloggers throughout their issues and I was just amazed at how blogging about beauty and fashion was actually a job. And a hard and dedicated one at that.

And so, here I am, nearly 18 and I have a blog called 'Annaboho'. (Totally didn't choose this name just to sound cool) For me, this blog or as everyone who has ever blogged has said 'my little space on the internet', is my escape and a wonderful hobby that I'm glad to have. I have no aspirations to become a full time blogger and earn money from it as a brand, but it would be nice - but let's face it, I'm not exactly popular in a saturated blogger community... I'm nearing the end of year 13, and I hope to get an apprenticeship in media or grab a part time job to support myself. But right now my creativity lies in my instagram and blog, and I want to share with you guys what it's like as a nearly 18 year old in the blogging community.

Many people have a schedule to please the readers, personally, I blog whenever I want and about whatever inspires me. I don't want to sound mean, but I feel that having a schedule means that you're forcing yourself to do something and it'll certainly take the fun out of it. You might notice that I post practically every day and then there's a two day gap where I lose a couple of readers, and that's ok, I'm not here to be the next big thing. I blog when I can, in free periods where I have no work to do, towards the end of a business lesson where my juices have been squeezed out and I have no energy for it anymore. Not to mention, at the weekends and Friday afternoons where the light is so on point I have a little picture session. (The picture you see above was taken on Friday!) Then, there are times when I just don't want to do a post and I've got too much work to do, so sadly, I have to prioritize.

Most of you know, I use a Samsung S3 mini to take my photos and VSCOCam to edit my photos, and soon I'll have an iPhone 6 Plus. (So not bragging here) The photos you see in my posts are not the best quality, but they're reasonable. And they're the best part for me, whenever I buy a product or go out for a day out or meal with my friends, I just can't wait to share the photos with you guys. My blog isn't about one thing, as a teenage blogger, I don't earn money, so I have to mix it up a bit because I can't keep buying products to review. And sometimes I talk about products twice but in different ways - I am that sad. Beauty, fashion, baking, lifestyle, music. That's what my blog is about, and they're my main passions, but it's hard to compete with others who talk about their new NAKED palette or the latest MAC release - I wish I was that rich to do that.

Lastly, Photoshop is my best friend. Fact. I continuously make new headers and edit pictures to make my blog as eye catching as possible. Again, I don't earn money to buy a theme, so I rely on the Blogger Simple theme. But it looks good, doesn't it? Though when I turn 18, I might treat myself to a pipdig theme, because they're to die for aren't they?

This post turned out quite long, and I could keep on ranting, but I've put the main things in.

I want to hear what you have to say, what's it like being a blogger for you?

  1. You go girl. Every blogger is different. Some work well with a rigid schedule & others just wing it.

  3. I love blogging, it's definitely one of the best things I've ever decided to do. And yeah, I decided from the get go I didn't want to pay for my theme so I've tried to make the most of the simple blogger one.

  4. Blogging is a hobby I have found for myself, and since it is a hobby, I will write whatever I feel like writing that day. Blogging is so diverse and to stick with one theme can become boring and repetitive. That is why I love your blog so much! You stated your opinion so eloquently it was a treat to read after a long day of school. Keep on doing what you love doing!
