May Favourites

-- Transition into summer --

Can you believe that this time last year I was raving about going to America in June and it's already been nearly a full year. Aw aw I miss America - if you're new to my blog you can catch up on the post about it here. Anyway, this month has been a whirlwind of trying new products, reading loads more book and going to work. I've whittled it down to a few things to talk to you about, so grab a drink and snack because it's a long one, enjoy...

001: A Little Life // Hanya Yanaghihara:
This took about a whole month to read as it was just about 900 pages. It was a unique and amazing read and nothing like what I've picked up before. You really feel for the main characters JB, Willem, Jude and Malcolm and there are too many things I want to say about it, but I can't find any words. It's incredibly moving and the ending made it even more perfect, I recommend it to everyone.

"A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara is an immensely powerful and heartbreaking novel of brotherly love and the limits of human endurance. When four graduates from a small Massachusetts college move to New York to make their way, they're broke, adrift, and buoyed only by their friendship and ambition. There is kind, handsome Willem, an aspiring actor; JB, a quick-witted, sometimes cruel Brooklyn-born painter seeking entry to the art world; Malcolm, a frustrated architect at a prominent firm; and withdrawn, brilliant, enigmatic Jude, who serves as their centre of gravity. Over the decades, their relationships deepen and darken, tinged by addiction, success, and pride. Yet their greatest challenge, each comes to realise, is Jude himself, by midlife a terrifyingly talented litigator yet an increasingly broken man, his mind and body scarred by an unspeakable childhood, and haunted by what he fears is a degree of trauma that he'll not only be unable to overcome - but that will define his life forever."

002: Essie Nail Paint in Bikini So Teeny:
Having always used Barry M as my drugstore go to, I was overly impressed by Essie nail paints. Of course I've read loads of great reviews about them, but I never tried it for myself. I picked up Bikini So Teeny while on a birthday voucher spree, and I instantly thought it was the perfect colour for summer with the lilac tones! It applies so well, dries easily and creates a lovely finish which lasts around a week and a half. If you're looking for new summer colours to add to your collection then this is it.

003: Cacti:
Two weekends ago, I bought three cute Pinterest worthy cacti for my bedroom. They came in a silver tin pot which makes them look amazing on my windowsill and they were all for £9 - bargain! The one pictured is one of my favourites right now and is perfect for adding as a blogging photo prop haha. Let's hope I can keep them alive for a long time...

004: Lush Vanishing Cream Facial Moisturiser:
Honestly, what is a favourites post without Lush popping up somewhere? This month I've been loving this little sample I got from the factory when I made my third Lush Kitchen order. I've been looking for something different to add to my routine as I've nearly finished my Gorgeous moisturiser. This one contains the likes of lavender, shea butter and witch hazel so it's calming, moisturising and anti-inflammatory. I'm really loving it and I think I might just buy the full size soon.

005: Sanctuary Spa Eye Makeup Remover:
Like I said in one of my previous posts, when I take my eye makeup off with miceller water, my eyes tend to hurt after as I feel the product might be a bit too harsh. This Sanctuary Spa product was an amazing find as it's suitable for sensitive eyes (and doesn't hurt on application!) and it takes off the makeup so quickly and easily. Though one thing I don't like is how greasy it leaves my eyes, but I can just rub it off with my Lush toner after.

006: Soap & Glory Clean On Me Shower Jelly:
Because I took the butter version of the original pink scent to America, all month this has been reminding me of last summer. It's perfect for this time of year and is so easy to use. Even though it is a jelly, it's not slippery and is so quick to melt and lather on the skin, plus the scent stays on your skin for ages after. If there's one product I could only use forever, then this would be it. I'm in love...

What have you guys been loving this May?
