Worth The Hype? Lush Sleepy Body Lotion

The solution to sweet lavender dreams

Ok, seeing as I consider myself (a.) a hardcore lushie and (b.) I've used this numerous times myself, I thought I would put my own opinion out there on this celebrated lotion. After seeing the hype online and in store, it was making me wonder why all of a sudden people care about this product. Ok, it's from Lush (between you and me - the best cosmetics company out there) and it's named Sleepy. So, it should give a little clue...

Here's a bit of snazzy info, if you guys aren't entirely aware, this product used to be a Christmas exclusive. Think using it in the cold months with it's warming smell and then cosying up in fluffy pjs by the fire. *sighs in content* And then it went, but everyone wanted it back, the so the company decided they would bring it back!

But that's not where the hype started. An article two months after the release blew up claiming it helps insomnia (and some customers told me it was all over the mum blogs) and then the whole world bought a tub.

Sharing its scent with the Twilight bath bomb and shower gel, I personally love this lotion as the lavender is paired with sweet and warming vanilla and tonka. It's a super rich cream so perfect for dry winter skin. And because the scent is pretty strong - fyi you can smell it on your pjs the morning after applying - I think it does help you relax.

Whether it actually helps sleep, I guess it could be a helpful addition BUT it might not work for everyone. Considering I sleep like a baby anyway - even though I still feel like I never slept the morning after. (Note: need to look into that), I love this lotion purely for the scent. It's like a nice warm hug and it's just what you need after a hard day's work.

Some people do say it works, so Lush have surely balanced the ingredients in the product right! And if you're wondering if it works for you, then why not give it a try?? It's definitely up there in my top 5 Lush body lotions!

Have you guys ever tried Sleepy?

  1. Lovely post, I’ve never personally tried the sleepy body lotion, although I was thinking about creating a blog post on products to aid sleep in the autumn and winter months, so this would be perfect. Lavender is such a calming fragrance, I love it! :-) xx

  4. I can't wait to give this a sniff when I go to Lush soon! I'm just hoping that the scent is not too strong as I can't really use some products because of that.
I definitely sleep better after drinking chamomile tea and when I've used a Twilight bath bomb so I do think that scents etc can help you sleep better or feel more awake etc. I really hope that if I end up buying this that it can help me fall asleep faster :)x
