Why Being An Adult Is Kinda Scary

Can I be a teen again? Please?

So, I'm 21 now. Why.

Apparently this is the age that I'm supposed to have adult responsibilities and just be super independent. Is there a way to opt out of this?? No? Damn.

Now that it's official, I thought I should list a few things about why being a full functioning adult is the scariest thing on planet earth. Because I legit feel like sixteen still. And I reaaally hope some of you guys can relate to these.

And we can moan and cry together lol.

001: I have to be even more responsible for my actions. But I just can't do it, if I'm struggling with something or need help with something I'm expected to do on my own. I just look for another adult. An adultier adult. Someone who can successfully adult. (A little reference to that meme that's been floating around)

002: Well it's official. I have a job, I have more hours in the week to work. AND I now pay taxes.

003: I'm also expected to now know what career I want. Which luckily I kind of do.

004: And the fact that I'm now in my 20s, it's time to start saving for a house to live in for the rest of my life. What happened to the days when I would be saving up for a Nintendo DS game???

005: You feel like your A Levels were literally last year, but no, they happened THREE YEARS AGO. And there are people who are 18 and you are Older. Than. Them. How.

006: Another scary aspect. You get excited to go to the supermarket and buy food. More specifically fruit. Yep. And all the components needed to make your lunches for the week. Oh, but you still have money to obviously get enough chocolate that you think will last a week, but in fact lasts one night.

007: Some of the people I know in life from work and school now have kids. And others are literally about to graduate uni and start careers... I'm not ready for this.

008: And last but not least. And the most scary. Last month I WILLINGLY spent birthday money on socks. Socks. And that is the milestone when you realise you're an adult.

Do you have any fears about being an adult?

  3. We're all here with you, haha! I'm 24 years-old and I still feel way to young to be doing this adulting thing. I'm married, but I don't have any kids yet. I kind of feel like I'm ready for one now, but I definitely wasn't at 21!
