The Alibi Book Club #13

-- Sisters are forever --

My one mission in terms of reading for 2016 is to try as many different books as possible. I haven't bought a teen book for nearly a year (I want to exclude the youtuber books on this) and for me adult fiction has become so much more interesting. I picked up We Are Completely Beside Ourselves as the blurb intrigued me. Though part of me expected it be the same sort of sibling relationship novel that I've already come across. But it was really so much more than that...

"Rosemary doesn't talk very much, and about certain things she's silent. She had a sister, Fern, her whirlwind other half, who's vanished from her life in circumstances she wishes she could forget. And it's been ten years since she last saw her beloved older brother Lowell.

Now at college, Rosemary starts to see that she she can't go forward without going back, back to the time when, aged five, she was sent away from home to her grandparents and returned to find Fern gone."

There's a pivotal moment in the novel where the plot completely twists on its head and all your perceptions about the novel are gone. It's really not the stereotypical sibling novel that you see all the time in Waterstones. I don't want to give too much away but you'll honestly want to keep reading. Though there's one thing I should say, even though the ending is really interesting and happy, it didn't really end how I wanted it. But I would read it 10 times more if I could!

What books are you reading right now??
