The Alibi Book Club #38 {3 Books For Christmas}

Funny, cosy and festive reads

I LOVE a good ol' light hearted festive read.

It makes me feel all toasty and cosy inside. And of course super Christmassy!!

I have a few new favourites and old classics to share with you guys that you NEED to add to your bookshelves this season!

001: heidi swain - mince pies and mistletoe at the christmas market:
If you love Christmas markets and the thought of warming bakes, then you'll love this. Set around a student coming back from uni to help out at the local market to earn more money, she then ends up having to try and save it...

"Ruby has finished with university and is heading home for the holidays to save up for her trip around the world in January. Against her father's wishes, she takes on a stall at the local market, and sets about making it the best Christmas market stall ever. There'll be bunting and mistletoe and maybe even a bit of mulled wine.

But with a new retail park just opened on their doorstep, the market is under threat. So together with all the other stallholders, Ruby devises a plan to make sure that Wynbridge is the first port of call for everyone's Christmas shopping needs.

The only thing standing in her way is Ruby's ex, Steve. It's pretty hard to concentrate on saving the world when he works on the stall opposite, especially when she realises that her feelings for him are still there..."

002: jeanette winterson - christmas days:
Full of festive short stories and recipes, this is one is perfect for saving for right before Christmas. I first bought this one last year, and I can't wait to pick it up again!

"For years Jeanette Winterson has written a new story at Christmas time and here she brings together twelve of her brilliantly imaginative, funny, and bold tales, along with twelve delicious recipes for the twelve days of Christmas."

003: sophie kinsella - christmas shopaholic:
This is a new one on my shelf! This is one of the most funniest novels I've read from Kinsella and I would readily read this again. It's rare I'll laugh out loud when reading a book, and with this one I did.

"Becky Brandon (nee Bloomwood) adores Christmas.

It's always the same - Mum and Dad hosting, carols playing, Mum pretending she made the Christmas pudding, and the next-door neighbours coming round for sherry in their terrible festive jumpers. And now it's even easier with online bargain-shopping sites - if you spend enough you even get free delivery. Sorted! But this year looks set to be different. Unable to resist the draw of craft beer and smashed avocado, Becky's parents are moving to ultra-trendy Shoreditch and have asked Becky if she'll host Christmas this year. What could possibly go wrong?

With sister Jess demanding a vegan turkey, husband Luke determined that he just wants aftershave again, and little Minnie insisting on a very specific picnic hamper - surely Becky can manage all this, as well as the surprise appearance of an old boyfriend and his pushy new girlfriend, whose motives are far from clear . . . Will chaos ensue, or will Becky manage to bring comfort and joy to Christmas?"
