Food | The Beefeater

-- The best birthday meal ever? Oh
do think so --

Yesterday, my parents took me out to the Beefeater at Coombe Lodge for my birthday meal. The Beefeater has literally been my favourite restaurant since forever. And the new S/S menu has seen them seriously up their game. (Sorry for the weird pics but I was at a table where there was literally half light half shadow haha)

The menu is more restricted than it used to be, but that means there isn't too much choice that you will end up spending an hour choosing what to eat. You have the starters, pasta and salad, fish, chicken, beef, burgers and then the desserts and drinks at the back. I skipped the starters to go straight to the main and I'm so glad I did.

I got the double beef and bacon burger and it was massive. It doesn't look big, but it was a workout to my mouth to eat. I don't know how I managed to finish it, but it was a miracle I did. From top to bottom in a beautiful brioche burger bun, there was the sauce, bacon, cheese, beef patties, onions, tomato, lettuce. I'm getting hungry now as I'm typing this. The burger came with chunky slaw and skinny fries which beats McDonald's by far. The slaw was nice and fresh, but I wish it wasn't there because the burger and fries defeated me. This was by far the best burger meal I have had at the restaurant and I can't wait till next year.

On to the dessert, I got the new Eton Mess Sundae which was a heavenly mountain of cream, meringue, vanilla and strawberry ice cream with fresh strawberries and strawberry sauce. It was so refreshing and was a perfect end to the meal. The sundae was quite big so cue the awkward camera angles. I recommend this sundae to the popcorn and caramel one I had last time, as this wasn't too sweet and there was fruit, so you're half being healthy.

If you have one of these restaurants near to you in London/UK then make an excuse for a special celebration and go!

  1. I've actually never heard of this place before! But I so want to go now, you've really tempted me with the description of the food. Happy Birthday by the way :)

    1. thank you lovely, and it's quite a big restaurant in the UK but they're usually paired with premier inns :)
