Contouring Made Easy

-- Who knew contouring was such a staple --

It wasn't until recently that I didn't know what the point of contouring was. Of course I knew it was making your face appear more chiseled and shaped but I didn't really process how it was done so effectively and that really, anyone can do it and not just the professional beauty specialists. One day, I secretly hope to be nearly as good as them... One day...

The other day I picked up the Seventeen Define and Conquer Contour Kit in Boots after seeing Gabbie from velvetgh0st rave about it. Indeed it looks just like a NARS product with the packaging and general design. I was even intrigued by that alone. But the fact that contouring could be an added step to my every day routine still scared me - a bit - because I didn't want to end up looking like I was in the sun too long and certain parts of my face were literally baked. (Especially if I needed to shoot off to work)

Lo and behold, there is a little guide that comes with the product. I literally felt so relieved and I was excited to give it a try. I don't know what brush is the best, but I just used my powder brush to add and blend in and I followed the visual guide. First thing's first, it didn't look too harsh on initial application and it blended in really easily yay. I'm wearing it as I type this and the whole application with the light and dark powders does make my cheeks appear more defined and my nose looks thinner. Which is a bonus as I'm not too keen on my nose...

Overall, it's a good product for first time contouring and the guide actually helps! For £5.99 you can't go wrong, and seeing as I've only tried this and the concealer from the brand, I'm looking forward to trying more. If this ends up in my December favourites by the end of the month, then you know it was good!

Have you guys ever contoured?

  1. I'm still yet to try proper contouring or own a kit, so this definitely sounds like a great starter kit! I normally just subtley brush my bronzer in a figure of 3 each side of my face and then apply highlighter to the tops of my cheekbones. Will have to swatch this when I am next in Boots :) x
